MESSAGE FROM THE CNO

Dear Colleagues,

The 2018 Nursing Annual Report is a tribute to our nurses here at Stanford Health Care.  Stanford nurses serve in over 184 different areas & clinics across the growing Stanford network, serving our community in a wide range of clinical and leadership roles and are on the front lines of patient care 24/7/365.  Our nurses continue to deliver exemplary care with a level of compassion and clinical expertise that is unsurpassed.

As we wrap up the year in 2018, I would like to highlight a few of our many accomplishments:

  • Developed and deployed a Patient Care Services Strategic Plan that aligns and support Stanford Medicine’s Integrated Strategic and Operational Plan.

  • Patient Care Services Restructuring Plan

  • ANCC Magnet Interim Report Submitted and approved to move forward to 4th Magnet Designation

  • Appointed as Joanna Briggs Affiliate – Leveraging Evidence-based practice at Stanford Health Care

  • Co-created and launched Stanford University’s first Post-doctoral Nurse Training program

  • Completed LEAF STUDY – largest RCT pressure injury study and the first to use a wearable patient sensor and evaluate preventive turning practices for reducing pressure injuries.

Over the past year, our nurses achieved outstanding patient outcomes, innovated new practices, led groundbreaking research, and continued advancing the professional practice of nursing. I’m proud of all that our nurses have achieved in the past year. It is because of the daily contributions and excellent leadership of our nurses that we are able to advance the profession of nursing and transform the lives of our patients each and every day.

With very sincere gratitude to all,
